FRANKLIN - Agnes D. Mercier, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester.
She was born on April 5, 1929 in Ste. Dorothee, Quebec to the late Germain and Marie-Anne (Clermont) Bigras.
Agnes moved to the United States in 1955. She was employed by the University of Vermont as a Laboratory Technician in the Microbiology department. Agnes was known as a feisty and determined woman. She loved working in her beautiful flower gardens and loved to travel, taking long road trips with her brother, Henri. Agnes enjoyed decorating her home with festive Christmas decorations. She was an active parishioner at St. Marys in Franklin. She was a founding member on the board of directors and was honored to be part of making the Franklin Homestead and Carriage House a reality.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette Warn and her husband, Patrick of Georgia; a beloved granddog, Hugo; brothers, Julien, Henri, and Remi; sisters, Agathe, Juliette, and Jacinthe. Besides her parents, Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Paul Mercier in 1986, her son, Normand; brothers, Real, Claude, Bernard, Laurent; sisters, Jeanne Mance, and Gertrude.
Agness family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Sanders and his staff and to the McClure Miller Respite Houses staff for the wonderful care they provided for Agnes.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 1-5:00 PM at Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Franklin. Interment will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
