ENOSBURG FALLS - Albany Bunny Gregoire, Jr., age 84, passed away Tuesday evening November 18, 2008 at the Northwestern Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
He was born in East Fairfield on November 26, 1923 the son of the late Albany & Mary (Young) Gregoire. In 1949 he married Lucille Boylan. She predeceased him in 1996 as well as their son Francis Frank Gregoire in 1990.
Bunny was a resident of the East Fairfield / Enosburg area most of his life. He owned and operated a dairy farm in East Fairfield until the mid 1960s. He then moved to Enosburg where he owned and operated Gregoires Sawmill from 1966 to 1985. During this time he also logged, dealt in scrap metal which he hauled to Montreal, and raised pigs. He enjoyed operating his many bulldozers. He was known for being a wheeler / dealer and collector of many things and always had a knack for having something unusual that people were looking for.
Bunny enjoyed visiting with people, working in his garden, and playing cards. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to auctions. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children and their families, Franks two children, Colleen Gervais her husband Clement and their children Allison, Emily & Megan, and Shawn Gregoire all of Enosburg; Larry Gregoire and his partner Barb Trombley of Sheldon, Patrick & Patricia Gregoire of Enosburg, their sons Jason and Patrick his wife Josie and their son Kody; Wayne & Joanne Gregoire of Enosburg and their children, Jessica Goss her husband Josh, Matthew & Nicole; Annette Gregoire and her husband Arthur Rocheleau of Georgia; Tawnya Croft of Swanton and her children, Caitlin, Heidi & Logan; his siblings, Rachelle Slater of Lakeland, FL, Alphonse Gregoire of Colchester, Paul Gregoire and wife Corinne of Swanton, Theresa Knapp of Eliot, ME, Rose Elwood of Milton, Lawrence Gregoire of Richford, and Patricia Hampton and her husband Alex of Hammond, LA; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Lucille (Boylan) Gregoire; a son, Francis Frank Gregoire; a sister, Pauline Danyow; and brothers, Louis, Joseph, and Patrick Gregoire.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening November 21, 2008 from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will also be private at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.
