FRANKLIN - Albert J. Desautels, age 79, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at his home in the Franklin Homestead.
Albert married Ginette Salois on June 18, 1960 and together they raised their 4 daughters in Richford. Albert was the kind of husband that would stop and pick wild flowers beside the road for Ginette and not need a reason. He worked for many years as a master carpenter and also became licensed as a master plumber. Albert was an engineer of sorts who, many times, would make what he needed to get a job done. Albert worked long hard days and cared very much for all of his customers. He was in every sense of the word a Craftsman and it showed in all of his work. He was proud of the work he did, but more so he was proud of his wife, Ginette, his 4 Daughters and the home they built together.
He retired at the age of 66 and began traveling around the United States and Canada. Albert and Ginette spent many hours on the road together; for the past 7 years, they would spend summers at Brookside Campground in Enosburgh and winters at their home in Lake Worth, FL. Alberts favorite hobbies included woodworking and playing cards, croquet and petanque, snowmobiling and bowling. Albert was very competitive but did not need to win. Ask anyone at The Campground that played Croquet with Him.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ginette Desautels of Franklin; 4 daughters and their husbands, Joanne & Vincent Johnson of Franklin, Jayne & Peter Chevalier of St. Albans, Joyce & Chris Sicard and Julie & Richard Hoy all of Richford; 15 grandchildren, Collin, Jordan, Elly, Corey, Jerrica, Keilah, Craig, Kyle, Amanda, Christine, Andrea, Daniel, Robert, Shane and Ricky; 10 great grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Germaine & George Provost of St. Theodore, Que., Jacqueline & Gilles Favreau of Sutton, Que., Jean Noel & Noella Desautels and Gilles Desautels all of Richford and Laurent Desautels of Waco, TX.; a half-sister, Martha Chartier and her husband Bruce and a step-sister Theresa Desautels all of Agawam, MA; his siblings-in-law and their spouses, Claude & Loraine Salois of Hanover, PA, Michele & Peter St. Germain of Highgate Ctr., Andre & Jeanne Salois of Tolland, CT and Frances Salois of St. Albans and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by his siblings, Laurentia & Laurette Courtemanche, Lucienne Dion, Yvette LaRocque and Marcel, Andre, Leo, Germain & Florian Desautels and his father and mother-in-law, Lionel & Yvette (Rodrigue) Salois.
