MONTGOMERY CENTER - Alberta L. Lumbra, age 103, widow of Austin L. Lumbra, passed away Wednesday morning January 13, 2010 at The Manor in Morrisville.
She was born April 18, 1906 in Highgate Center the daughter of the late Alfred & Eliza (Touchette) Ploof.
Alberta was a resident of Montgomery Center most of her life and was a member of St. Isisdores Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Anne. She was also a former member of the Montgomery Senior Citizens and the Montgomery Grange. She had worked as a cook for the Montgomery Elementary School for 12 years.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Theresa & Romeo Lamore, Connie & Arthur Bill McFarland all of Montgomery, and Walter & Shirley Lumbra of Johnson; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Malberge Mercy of Enosburg Falls; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Austin L. Lumbra; 2 brothers, Roger & Rolland Ploof; and 4 sisters, Agnes Gauthier, Blanche Prive, Reina Mayotte & Floris Lumbra.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. Isidores Catholic Church in Montgomery Center with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be held next spring in St. Isidores Cemetery in Montgomery Center.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls
