Aldea M. Sylvester

MONTGOMERY - Aldea M.(St. Cyr) Sylvester, age 90, widow of Allan Sylvester, passed away peacefully at her home with her family on Friday morning May 21, 2010.

She was born September 26, 1919 in St. Cyrille, Quebec, the daughter of the late Alphee & Adele (Lessard) St. Cyr.

Aldea moved to the United Sates at the age of 9. She married Allan Sylvester in 1940 and had a daughter, Margaret, in 1945 and a son, Paul, in 1951. She worked very hard raising her family and with her husband on a dairy farm as well as sugaring in the spring. Aldea was employed at the Atlas Plywood Plant in Richford during the 1940s and during the late 1970s she worked at Montgomery Schoolhouse, Inc. in Montgomery.

Aldea enjoyed her family first, then came gardening. She also did knitting and made towels and dish cloths for everyone. She was very proud of her French heritage and spoke French whenever she could. Aldea was a member of St. Isidores Catholic Church in Montgomery Center. She will be missed by many family and loved ones.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Maggie Sylvester and her son, Paul Sylvester, both of Montgomery; her grandchildren and their significant others, Stacy Sylvester and Alan, Nicole Sylvester and Robert, Jill Sylvester and Graton, Paul Sylvester and Kristi, Katelyn Sylvester and Adam Sylvester; her great grandchildren, Lynda and her significant other Derik, Alan, Megan, Hunter, Bethany, Bobby and Gracie and a great great grandson Aydan, all of Montgomery; nieces; nephews and 2 special God-daughters, Rose Johnson and Gisele Gervais.

Besides her parents, Aldea was predeceased by her husband, Allan Sylvester on April 7, 1992; her beloved great grandson, Kaleb Sylvester; her brothers, Oliver (Sylvia), Theotime(Ila) and Antonio(Alida) St. Cyr; and her sister, Lydia (St. Cyr) Baker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11:00 Am at St. Isidores Catholic Church in Montgomery Center. Interment will follow in St. Isidores Cemetery in Montgomery Center.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday from5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
