SHELDON - Alfreda Elizabeth Kane, age 81, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018.
She was born in East Hatley, Quebec, Canada on August 26, 1936 to the late John & Lenora (Smith) Ross.
At the age of 18 she married Walter Kane and started the family of 10 children. In her later years, she started her career as the head cook at the Brownway Residence for 10 years, then retired to her family home in Sheldon Vermont. She enjoyed the summer months outdoors on her swing watching and listening to the birds, while enjoying the beautiful flowers and vegetable garden which she often helped tend to. She always made time for her family especially during the holidays. She was always excited for Christmas Eve because we all gathered together enjoyed her one of a kind fudge and many other delicious foods that she always took time to prepare for all to enjoy.
She is survived by her children, Christopher Kane and his wife Lynne of Richford, Steven Kane of Sheldon, Daniel Kane and his wife Debbie of Sheldon, Eric Kane of Berkshire, Jamie Kane and his wife Jill of Virginia Beach, VA, Deborah Benoit and her husband Gregory of Middlesex, Joanne Robinson of Lake Tahoe, CA, and Laurie Kane of Richford; 30 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren; a brother, Walter Ross of Sutton, QC and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Alfreda was predeceased by her husband, Walter Kane; sons, Scott Cocoa Kane and David Kane; grandchildren, Lance Kane; great grandson, Gaven Murphy; siblings, Dorothy Tibbitts and Charles Ross, and a sister-in-law, Lucy Ross.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 4-7:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls. Interment will be held this spring in St. Anthonys Cemetery in Sheldon.
For those who wish, contributions in Alfredas memory may be made to her family to help with the funeral expense, any monies left will be donated to the Hope Lodge in Burlington, VT. Please make checks payable to Patricia Kane Breure, 327 Lime Kiln Rd., Apt 7403, South Burlington, VT 05403.
