HIGHGATE CENTER - Alice Jeannedarc Rouse, age 92, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Highgate Center. Born to the late Raymond & Claire (Boudreau) Cyr on October 29, 1932, in Bedford, QC, Canada, Alice lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Alice married Woodbury Rouse on June 7, 1953. She dedicated nearly 30 years of her life to Energizer, where she shared her passion for hard work and dedication. In her spare time, she found joy in crocheting and knitting, creating beautiful Christmas stockings that warmed the hearts of her family and friends.
Known for her love of card parties, Alice excelled in games like 500 and bingo, always bringing a smile to those around her. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years. She cherished simple joys like watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play in the pool and going for car rides, finding beauty in life's everyday moments. These moments are commemorated in her numerous photo albums throughout her home. She was also a "collector" of anything she thought could be useful!
Alice leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be treasured by her children, Paulette Unwin and her husband David, Woodbury Rouse Jr., Deborah Rouse, and Linda Rouse-Turner and her husband David; grandchildren, Melissa Gover and her husband Mark, Sara Rouse, David Rouse and his significant other Kelly Desrochers, Emily Morris and her significant other Shayne Peterson, Tiffany Trombley and her husband Lee, and Hayley Turner Lawyer and her husband Kenny; great-grandchildren, Gracie Gover, Brooke Gover, Thomas Gover, Jonathon Rouse, Cambria Trombley, Vivien Trombley, Kenzley Turner Lawyer, Hazel Turner Lawyer, Shayne Lawyer, and Jacob Lawyer; sisters, Gisele Nolan, and Jayne Grenon; brother-in-law, Walter Hlipko; several nieces & nephews; and her beloved cat, Sam. In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, Woodbury Rouse Sr.; her grandchildren, John Miner, and Liberty Turner Lawyer; her step-mother, Migonne (Boudreau) Ponton Cyr; her siblings, Jackie Sandor and her husband Tom, Mary-Paule Verret and her husband Leo, Pauline Hlipko, Roland Audette and his wife Clarece, and Joe Ponton; and her brother-in-law, Wesley Nolan.
Alice's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone that cared for her and made it possible for her to spend her final days at her home. Especially her children, Paulette, Linda, and Woody Jr., and Bayada Hospice. They would also like to thank her friends Lorraine & Joe Rainville, and Betty Machia for chauffeuring her to card parties so she wouldn't miss out on them!
In keeping with Alice's wishes, there will be no visiting hours and friends & family are invited to her life celebration to include a graveside funeral service on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 2:30 PM at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Lamkin St., Highgate Center, VT.
