Aline Godin

BERKSHIRE - Aline Gisele Godin, age 72, wife of F. Raymond Godin, passed away at her home on Friday morning, August 17, 2012 with her devoted husband at her side.

She was born October 18, 1939 in Cowansville Quebec Canada, the only child of the late Henri & Annette (Forcier) Jacques.

Aline came to Richford from Canada in 1945 and started her education at Richford Elementary School without being able to speak English. She later graduated from Richford High School in 1958. While in high school she worked for Brouillettes Dept. Store and then after high school working as a bookkeeper at Dussaults Cash Market and as a teller at Franklin County Bank in Richford.

She devoted her life to raising her family and helping Raymond on the farm helping with the animals and the field work. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved to make Christmas boxes for her family and friends which had their favorite goodies in them. She also spent many hours tracing her ancestors and working on the family genealogy. In her later years she helped Raymond care for the All Saints Cemetery. Aline was a person of deep faith. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in East Berkshire where she was the former treasurer of the Ladies of St. Ann Society.

Aline and Raymond enjoyed spending time in Florida in the fall for many years and traveling, seeing 45 of our 48 states. After they retired in 1999 they visited every town in Vermont seeing the beauty of our state. They also visited many places in Quebec and Ontario.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, F. Raymond Godin of Berkshire. Aline and Raymond were married on April 23, 1960 in All Saints Catholic Church in Richford. She is also survived by her children and their families, Richard Godin his wife Janice of Berkshire and their children, Nathan his wife Brandi of Lyndonville, Ashley her husband Casey Demers of Highgate, Erica of Middlebury & Stephanie of Berkshire; Andre Godin his wife Donna of Milton; Roger Godin his wife Kelley of Turner, ME and their children, Randy & Carmin Enosburg Falls & Christian of Turner, ME; and Louis Godin of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Lucien Godin of St. Albans; sisters-in-law, Claire Godbout of Richford, Jane Godbout of Roebuck, SC. & Lorette Larose of Franklin; several nieces, nephews & cousins. Besides her parents, Aline was predeceased by a special cousin, Claude Jacques whom Aline considered a brother; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Buddy Godin; and sister-in-law, Rita Desnoyers.

Funeral services will be held Monday August 20, 2012 at 12:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church, 152 Main St., Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Richford.

Family and Friends will gather at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls on Monday August 20, 2012 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM .
