Alton was a gregarious man, known for his resilient strength and endless love. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched as a father, son, brother, partner, relative, and friend. Alton's unwavering work ethic, guidance, and humor left an indelible mark on those around him.
Raising his family on a farm, Alton taught his children invaluable life lessons. He instilled in his children the values of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of family. He took great pride in his children's academic achievements, supporting each of them in securing their degrees despite the challenges of being a first-generation household. Alton's character shone through his kindness, loyalty, and infectious positivity. He approached life with a smile and inspired everyone around him.
He had a lifelong passion for agriculture, most recently raising 39 yaks on his 250-acre farm on Prospect Hill. His connection to Vermont was profound, and he cherished its land and people. In addition to Vermont, his love for the outdoors extended beyond the boundaries of state lines to Pennsylvania for his annual hunting trip with family and friends. His incredible hunting stories will continue to be shared with future generations for years to come.
Alton graduated from O'Brien's Cosmetology School and had a fulfilling 40+ year career in Milton, VT, where he honed his craft, forged meaningful connections with his clients, and preached the "good news" of the gospel from behind the chair. Devout Christian and lifelong scholar, Alton's tenacious faith led him to attend Charis Bible College later in his life. He was deeply committed to his community, contributing philanthropically to the Church of Rock in St. Albans and offering guidance to anyone who crossed his path.
Alton's presence was a source of joy and inspiration for everyone he met, lighting up rooms with his contagious smile and quick wit. He loved to share his faith and wisdom, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. His ability to foster connections was unmatched, attracting good spirits wherever he went.
Alton shared a special bond with his doctors, Dr. Steven Ades, Dr. Urszula Kowalik, Dr. Elizabeth Brant, and Dr. Stewart Manchester, who went above and beyond. Their dedication is greatly appreciated.
Today, we honor Alton not with mourning, but with gratitude for every moment shared and every lesson learned. His spirit lives on in our hearts, reminding us to embrace life fully and carry on his legacy of love and compassion. Rest in peace, you will be deeply missed and forever loved.
