ENOSBURGH - Andrew R. Scott, Jr., age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning February 2, 2010 at his home on Enosburgh Mountain.
He was born September 14, 1935 in Mount Vernon, New York the son of the late Andrew R. Scott, Sr. & Mary (McNab) Scott.
Andy was a 1953 graduate of Bethel High School. Following high school went to work for Vanderbilt Chemical Co. for a few years. He then joined the Connecticut National Guard and then entered the U.S. Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1963. Following his military service he went to work for Kimberly Clark Paper Co. as a Machine Tender Paper Maker for 30 years retiring in 1997.
Andy and his partner, Patricia Potvin were longtime residents of New Milford, CT and since the early 2000s made their home on Enosburg Mountain where he enjoyed maple sugaring. With both parents being born in Scotland, Andy was very proud of his Scottish Heritage. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast, attending the Daytona 500 for many years.
He is survived by his partner, Patricia Potvin of Enosburgh; his daughter, Beverly H. Stewart her husband Emmett and their children, Missy, Matthew & Megan of Austin, TX; his son, Andrew Garry Scott his wife Elzimar and his daughter Angie of Waterbury, CT; his sister, Anne Beuttenmuller of Kensington, MD; and 3 nieces. Besides his parents, Andy was predeceased by 2 sons, James Scott, and Stuart Scott; and a nephew, Ricky Beuttenmuller. Andy also lost his faithful companion, Virgil last August.
A time of remembrance and sharing will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 5PM to 9PM at the St. Johns Episcopal Church, 7 Whittlesey Ave., New Milford, CT where refreshments will also be served. Interment will take place at a later date in June in the New Milford Cemetery.
