Burlington - Anita Grassette Harvey, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with her loving family at her side.
She was born January 30, 1927 in St. Albans, VT the daughter of the late Gilbert & Ida (Fountain) Grassette. She was predeceased by her husband, S. Thomas Harvey on March 7, 2005, as well as a brother, Gilbert A. Grassette, Jr., on September 3, 2000.
Anita graduated from Enosburgh Falls High School and Burlington Business College.
She was employed by Farmer\u0027s Home Administration for over 35 years in Enosburgh and St. Albans, before moving to Bennington in 1978. After retiring from the USDA, she spent many years as a volunteer at the Bennington Museum. Anita and her late husband Tom traveled frequently with other museum members and also as members of the 251 Club. They took great pride in having visited all of the towns in Vermont.
Anita was extremely proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She encouraged them to do well in all their undertakings and taught life lessons that will be long remembered. As well, she loved dogs, and for many years there was a faithful companion at her side.
She leaves behind a daughter, Anne Grassette-Harvey, of Enosburgh Falls, a grandson, Andrew Bingham of Altadena, CA, 3 granddaughters, Linley Bingham of Rome, NY, and Krista and Caitlin Bingham, also of Enosburgh Falls, a sister and brother-in-law, Judith and John Marcy, of Coolidge, AZ, and a dear friend, Madine Simpson, of Shelburne.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 9, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Daniel Jordan officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 2:00 PM until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
