SHOREHAM - Anita Willey went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at home with her loving family at her side. She was born January 20, 1925 in Monroe, NH, the daughter of Carroll and Annie (Champany) Santy. Her father passed away when she was a young child and her mother married Clarence Hubbard, Sr., whom Anita always referred to as "Dad". Anita graduated from Lisbon High School in 1942. She worked as a secretary for The Lisbon Company, Lisbon Oil, and Sweet Wood Handle Company all of Lisbon, NH. Besides her lifetime dedication to working on the family dairy farm taking care of the calves, stacking hay, keeping the farm books and running endless farm errands, she was a dedicated wife and mother to six children. She was especially known for her home-style cooking that was second to none.
On July 31, 1949 she married Gene Willey from West Littleton, NH and they settled on the Willey family farm on the Foster Hill Road. In 1963 they moved to Shoreham, Vermont where they operated a farm until Anita was in her seventies. She was a member of the Shoreham Congregational Church and the Women\u0027s Fellowship and Union Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Middlebury. She was a longtime active member in the Addison County and Vermont State Farm Bureau.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene; her children Curtis, Sr. and his wife Jeanette (Doane) of Bridport, Carol Hubbard of Shoreham, John and his wife Debbie (Kinney) of Hydesville, Lyle and his wife Carol (Foote) of Richford and Ronald and his wife Regina (Styles) of Whiting. She leaves 16 grandchildren; Curtis, Jr., Sheila (Brennan), Lauri (Munger), Annie (DeGennaro), Gabriel, Georgia (Trinka), Amanda (Lutomia), Adam, Sarah, Jared, Luke, Robert, Glenn, Matthew, Eli and Leanne. She also leaves 18 great-grandchildren. She is survived by one aunt, Elizabeth Dwyer of Proctor, brother-in-laws Mervyn Willey and John McIver, a sister-in-law Gayle Snow several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Lenard, in 1991, two sisters, Mae Santy and Glenna Leonard, and two brothers; Glen Santy and Clarence Hubbard, Jr.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Addison County Home Health who were an incredible support to Anita and the family throughout the past several years and especially this past year allowing Anita to remain at home. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27th at the Shoreham Congregational Church, Route 74 in Shoreham Village at 1:00 P.M.
