East Berkshire - Arlene N. Corey, 79, passed away on Sunday evening, November 14, 2010 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her family at her side.
Arlene was born on January 10, 1931 in Swanton, the daughter of Willard and Della Rose (Nolan) Hilliker. She was raised in Swanton and, on August 15, 1946, married Floyd Corey.
In 1953, Floyd and Arlene moved to CT and resided there until 1971 when they returned to Sheldon Creek and operated a small grocery store there for several years. She returned to Swanton in 1974. Since the death of her husband on August 25, 2003 she has lived with her daughter, Jeanine, in East Berkshire.
Surviving are Arlenes children, Everett Corey and his wife Mary of Windsor Locks, CT, Nydia Chapman and her husband Raymond of West Suffield, CT, Sandra Nejako and her husband Peter of East Granby, CT, Jeanine Rondeau and her husband George of East Berkshire and Germaine Cross and her husband Jeff of Swanton; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; her sisters, Pauline Labrie of St. Albans, Betty Cadieux of Swanton and Shirley Evans of Elmira, NY; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave, Enosburg Falls. Interment will take place in the spring in the Sheldon Village Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
