RICHFORD-Arthur William (Andy ) Anderson, 85 died Friday morning September 19, 2008 at Our Lady of the Meadows Community Care Home in Richford where he was a resident.
Born May 19, 1923, in Richford, to Hilda (Lafleur) and Arthur Cook, Andy was later adopted by his stepfather, Aatar D. Anderson.
Andy graduated from Richford High School, and served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II in the US Army. He attended Burlington Business College.
On June 16, 1951, he married Queda Virginia Huff of Strong, Maine in Burlington. She died February 17, 1989. He married Georganna Pynduss who survives him, in Richford, May 1990.
Andy worked for much of his life as a US Customs Officer in Norton, Vermont. After he retired from federal service, he traveled around Franklin County installing and maintaining Lifeline alarms for people in their homes and doing agricultural reports for the Census Bureau. Andy enjoyed trains, puttering around the house and working crossword puzzles. Andy attended the Baptist Church in Richford until he moved to the Meadows in 2007.
In addition to his wife, his two daughters survive him, Virginia Anderson (Stephen Bushman) of Berlin and Betsy Fontaine of Norton, stepdaughters Marceen Pynduss, Lucinda Szczesniak (John) and stepson Mark Pynduss and granddaughters, Sarah Fontaine, Holly and Kay Bushman, Camber and Katie Szczesniak, Jamina Cook and grandsons Jonathan and Jeffery Pynduss. Andy was predeceased by his granddaughter Lauren Bushman.
No funeral is planned and there are no calling hours. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Richford at the convenience of the family. Donations in Andys memory can be made to Our Lady of the Meadows Activity Fund, 1 Pinnacle Drive, Richford, VT 05476 or to the charity of your choice.
