Arthur Ovitt

ENOSBURGH CENTER - Arthur G. Ovitt, age 86, passed away Monday morning January 18, 2016 at The Villa in St. Albans.

He was born July 6, 1929 in West Enosburgh in the family farm house that Arthur was currently living in, the son of the late Craig & Marion (Hoben) Ovitt.

Arthur was a hardworking, lifelong dairy farmer who was a member of the St. Albans Co-Op and had received several milk quality awards during his career, retiring in 2013. He also had a love of working the land with his work horses.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Burleson) Ovitt of West Enosburgh. Arthur & Mary Lou were married January 31, 1951. He is also survived by his children, Gary Ovitt and his partner Daya Redman of St. Albans, Alan Ovitt and his wife Karen of Lakeland, FL, Brenda Ovitt of Jeffersonville, and John Ovitt and his wife Kathy of Franklin; his grandchildren, Susan Gancarcz and her husband Scott, Scott Ovitt and his wife Tracy, Chantel Ovitt and her partner Dylan Walters, Ryan Ovitt & Nikki Bushey and her husband Shawn; his great grandchildren, Kayla Ovitt, Madison Ovitt, Ella Gancarcz & Teagan Bushey; his sister-in-law, Ellen Jane Darling and her husband Ray of Lecanto, FL; many nieces, nephews, friends and his feline companion, Ralphy. Besides his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his siblings, Earl Ovitt, Kathryn Combs & Meredith Ovitt.

A graveside service will be private and held in the spring in the Berkshire Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
