RICHFORD - Asa G. Wilson, Sr., age 74, passed away Friday June 27, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Asa was born May 30, 1934 in Berkshire the son of the late Franklin & Ella (Kinney) Wilson
Asa worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator on the St. Lawrence Seaway and for several construction jobs throughout the state. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Asa was a true mountain man, outdoorsman and a good provider to his family. He loved to hunt, fish, trap, and most of all spend time at his camp on the mountain.
He is survived by his sons, Asa Wilson Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Richford, Virgil Wilson and his wife Rose of Richford, and David Wilson and his wife Crystal of Newport Center; his daughters, Susan Royce of Richford, Rebecca Wilson and her friend David Flint of Troy, and Linda Coons and her husband Scott of Richford; daughter-in-law, Sheila Wilson of Enosburg Falls; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; step-mother, Elizabeth Wilson of Fletcher; mother of his children, Genevieve Wilson of Richford; brother, Raydon Wilson of St. Albans; sister, Wanda Adkinson of Biddeford, ME; half brothers, Franklin Wilson Jr. and his wife Karen of Reno, NV, and Timothy Wilson and his wife Cathy of Fletcher; half sister, Sharon Underwood of Fletcher; special uncle, Lawrence Wilson and his wife Betty of Eden, NY; special nephew, Clark Irons Jr. and his wife Louise of Richford; special cousin, Karl Kinney of Swanton; and special friend Jerry Clark of St. Albans; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Daniel Wilson; great grandson Kaleb Sylvester; half brother, John Wilson; and nephew, Samuel Wilson.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday July 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Richford Center Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. There will be no visiting hours.
