RICHFORD – Auther “Artie” Young Jr., age 53, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 with his family by his side at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born in Springfield, Mass. on January 7, 1969 to the late Auther Sr. and Jessie (Polander) Young.
Artie has been a lifelong resident of Richford. He started working for the Richford Town Garage and then moved on to a career with the Vermont Agency of Transportation. Artie has been maintaining Route 242 out of the Montgomery garage for over 20 years. The first week of each rifle season Artie would take vacation time to spend the week hunting in a secret spot with his son, Brandon. Artie also had breakfast with his daughter, Sabrina every other Thursday morning, like clockwork, at the Dairy Center. Those are memories they will both cherish. Artie also loved pushing corn for Mark St. Pierre. Going to bike week in Laconia was something Artie looked forward to every year with his friends and loved his experience when he went to Sturgis. Artie could always be seen with a hazelnut coffee, a cigarette, and a big smile!
Artie is survived by his children, Brandon Young of Richford, and Sabrina Young and her boyfriend Dylan Rondeau also of Richford; stepchildren, Angelo Pappano and his girlfriend Ashley Lafoe of Richford, and Jeremy Pappano and his fiancée Faye O’Connell of Highgate; the mother of his children, Joann Young; grandchildren, Avery, Elijah and Ayden Pappano and Vinny Pappano; his girlfriend, Lisa Jacobs of Richford; sister-in-law, Mabel Messier and her husband Richard of South Carolina; brothers-in-law, James Corwell and his girlfriend Maggie Reynolds of South Carolina, Michael Corwell and his wife Robbi of Highgate, and Brian Corwell and his wife Tammie of Richford; and several special friends. Artie was predeceased by his parents.
