EAST ENOSBURG - Barbara K. Cutting, age 90, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.
She was born in Starksboro on July 22, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Mae (Lanthrop) Knisley.
Barbara married Harold Cutting on January 23, 1949 and the two raised their family in East Bakersfield on a small dairy farm and Enosburg. Barbara worked as a secretary for Rural and Farm Rehabilitation Program through the UVM Extension Office for 20 years, she retired in 1993. She wrote for the Enosburg Standard Country Dew Drops and Country Snowflakes. She was active in the Methodist Church and served as a Pastoral Volunteer for several years. Barbara enjoyed time spent outdoors, especially camping at Lake Carmi, watching the birds, working in her flower gardens, and taking people on nature walks to show them the beauty in the world. She will be remembered for baking her infamous doughnuts and gingerbread cookies, making wreaths and Partridge Berry Bowls for church bazaars, and her love of listening to bagpipes. Most of all Barbara relished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Gary Cutting and his wife Susan of East Richford, John Cutting and his wife Francoise of Swanton, Peggy-Ann Record and her husband Jim of Berkshire, Steven Cutting and his wife Paula of Franklin, and Michael Cutting and his wife Pamela of Franklin; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her son-in-law, Gary Clough; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless friends. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Harold Cutting; her daughter, Jean Clough; and her brothers, Kenneth and Clifford Knisley.
Barbaras family would like to thank the Richford Ambulance Service and the staff at Our Lady of the Meadows for the wonderful care that she received.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Avenue, Enosburg.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Enosburg Falls Methodist Church, Church Street, Enosburg Falls. Interment will take place this spring in the West Enosburgh Cemetery.
