SHELDON - Barbara J. Machia, affectionately known as Nanny, age 76, widow of Clarence Cheboy Machia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born November 21, 1935 in St. Albans the daughter of the late Howard & Ellen (Domina) Tipper.
Barbara was a lifelong resident Sheldon. She devoted her life to raising her family and caring for her husband during his extended illness prior to his passing. She loved helping take care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her sisters and special friend & cousin Betty, going to the casinos gambling and playing Bingo.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Brown and her partner Tommy Devarney of Sheldon, Rickie Machia of Sheldon, and Leisha Judd and her husband Gary of Franklin; her grandchildren, Brandy Labarron and her husband Shawn, Christopher Brown and his wife Brandy, Rickie Machia Jr and his wife Jenna, Joey Judd, and Katie Judd; her great grandchildren, Taylor, Devin & Bradley; her sisters, Jeanette Tipper of South Carolina, Carole Paquette & Diane Paquette both of Sheldon; her brothers and their wives, Robert & Rita Tipper of Enosburg & James & Deborah Tipper of Berkshire; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Tipper.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the funeral.
