NEWPORT / RICHFORD - Barbara (Bobbi) Scharff Moore, 83, of Newport, Vermont, died peacefully Monday Morning Jan. 10, 2011 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, VT.
Bobbi was born in Brooklyn, NY and later moved to Nutley, NJ where she graduated from Nutley High School. Afterwards she attended Vermont Junior College in Montpelier, where she met and later married Porter James Moore, Jr. of Newport in August 1947. Their only child, Johanne (Jody) was born in September 1948. Bobbi returned to University studies at UVM in the early 1970s, graduated and then became a teacher for North Country Union High School and Junior High School. She retired from teaching in 1989. Bobbi enjoyed skiing throughout her life, later skiing with her three grandchildren. She continued her love of golf, and enjoyed her many years of travel throughout the world. She was a member of Saint Mark\u0027s Episcopal Church in Newport.
She is survived by her daughter Johanne (Jody) Moore Jones and her husband Tony of Montgomery Center, her three grandchildren, Quenten Jones, his wife Susan and their two daughters Norah and Anwyn of Montgomery Center, Hannah Jones Sorenson, her husband Colin and their daughter Caelyn of Stowe, and Jesse Jones of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. She is also survived by two sisters Ede Smith of Hackettstown, NJ, and a sister Jane Lucas and husband Bud of Carrollton, GA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews.
