Bernice Hutchins

SHELDON - Bernice Rose Hutchins, age 67, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born at home in Fairfield on March 7, 1943 the daughter of the late Chester & Evelyn (Jacobs) Talcott.

Bernices family was her pride and joy and she was a full time Mom until her children were grown. She baby sat for kids in her home for a few years and then she went to work at St. Albans Health Care & Rehab, where she was a LNA. She loved her work and all of the residents. Bernice gave her heart to all that she met. She loved her flowers and her flower gardens at her home.

She is survived by her husband John W. Hutchins of Sheldon. Bernice and John were married on November 30, 1963. She is also survived by her children, John C. Hutchins of Swanton, Peter A. Hutchins and his wife Lorie of West Berkshire, Susie Karen S. (Hutchins) Reed and her husband Russell of Sheldon; her five wonderful grandchildren that she loved so very much, Brittany, Kristin, Melissa, Samantha, and Heather; her five sisters, Barbara Breton and her husband Norman of Southington, CT, Hazel Reed of Sheldon, Joyce Austin and her husband Avery of Sheldon , Sandra Austin and her husband Ballard of Swanton, and Linda Berry of Fairfield; her brother, David Talcott and his wife Jeannine of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her son, Thomas Tommy Hutchins; and 2 brothers-in-law, Kenneth Berry and David Reed.

A memorial service will be held Monday July 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Sheldon United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Marguerite C. Gage officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Sheldon Village Cemetery. Per Bernices request there will be no visiting hours.
