ENOSBURG FALLS - Bertrand L. Lussier, age 87, passed away Friday evening March 20, 2015 at his home in Enosburg Falls.
He was born May 18, 1927 at home in East Albany, VT the son of the late Antonio & Georgianna (Letourneau) Lussier
In 1946 Bert enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during WWII on the USS Manchester in the Atlantic Theater. He received his honorable discharge in 1949. Following his discharge, Bert worked for a brief time at General Motors in Massachusetts and then returned to Vermont where he bought and sold farms throughout the state. He also was a logger, sugar maker, heavy equipment operator, salesman, land speculator, cattle dealer and in his earlier years owned and managed a Ford tractor dealership in Hardwick. He was best known around the state as an auction Ring Man. He also built the Pine Cone Snack Bar in East Berkshire where he also built Berkshires first baseball fields.
He was an active member of the American Legion Post #42 in Enosburg Falls where he served as the post Service Officer and in 2014 he was honored with a plaque on the legion Wall of Honor .
He is survived by his children, Parma Jewett and her husband Duane of Montgomery, Brent Lussier and his wife Cindy of Enosburg Falls, Sandra Lussier of Vancouver, WA, Suzette Draheim of Brookings, OR, and Terrance Lussier and his wife Debbie of Redman, OR; 6 Grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren; his companion of 35 years, Sandi Murphy of Enosburg Falls and her children, Matt & Luke Murphy; and Sandis 6 grandchildren; his siblings, Lucille Sanville of Craftsbury, Yolande Bracci of Florida, Noel Lussier and his wife Barbara of Florida, and Bernard Lussier and his wife Linda of Craftsbury; his sisters-in-law, Beatrice Lussier of Berkshire, and Evelyn Lussier of Lyndonville; many nieces and nephews including Larry & Beas children and their families whom affectionately referred to Bert as Uncle Pepe. Besides his parents, Bert was predeceased by his brothers, Laurent & Roger Lussier, and his sisters, Marielle Stone & Lorraine Lussier.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 222 Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Roger Charbonneau celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be held later this spring in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
