ENOSBURG FALLS - Betty C. Fletcher, age 85, wife of Robert Bob Fletcher, died peacefully Sunday evening December 28, 2008 surrounded by her loving family at the St. Albans Health & Rehab Facility in St. Albans.
She was born August 22, 1923 in Belvidere the daughter of the late Harry & Lucy (Fletcher) Cox
Betty was a 1941 graduate of Brigham Academy. She first started working for the U.S. Bobbin Mill and then went to Parker & Stearns in Johnson as their bookkeeper for many years. She was very active in the community and was a member of the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post #42, the former LVIS, the Main Street Cemetery Association and the Enosburgh Center Cemetery Association.
One of her greatest enjoyments was traveling with Bob throughout New England and keeping the books at horse pulling contests.
She is survived by her husband Robert W. Fletcher of Enosburg Falls. They were married August 17, 1946. She is also survived by a son, William Fletcher and his wife Deborah Greenwood Fletcher of Enosburg Falls & Vero Beach, FL; a granddaughter, Kelly Barnier her husband John and their children, Tyler, Nicholas & Audrey of Swanton; her sister, Amy Bromley of West Springfield, MA; brothers-in-law, Gordon Pete Fletcher and his wife Catherine of Enosburg, Wendell Fletcher of Swanton, and Roy Fletcher and his wife Carol of Enosburg; a sister-in-law, Ruth Brouillette and her husband Albert of Honeybrook, PA; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by 2 brothers, Byron & James Cox; and a sister Irene Liimatainen.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday December 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church with Pastor Jon Bly officiating. Interment will take place next spring in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
