FRANKLIN - Elizabeth C. Betty Hough, age 77, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 18, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 12, 1934 in Westtown, NY the daughter of the late Silas & Elizabeth (Houghteling) Bedford.
Betty grew up in New Jersey and moved to Vermont with her family when she was in her 30s. She loved listening to music, gardening and arts and crafts. Betty was an excellent artist and loved to draw.
She is survived by her longtime companion, John Dube of Franklin; her 3 children, David Hough Sr. of Concord, NC, Cheryl Mullen and her husband Marc of Franklin and Connie Sheltra and her husband Michael of Montgomery; her 9 Grandchildren, David Jr. and Matthew Hough, Adam Mullen and his significant other Lindsay Baden, Meghan Hamilton-Piercy and her husband Gregg, Kari Gardiner and her husband Nicholas, John Kneen II and his wife Amber, Elizabeth Kneen and her significant other Matthew Perrault, Michael Kneen and Allen Sheltra; 2 Great Grandchildren, Owen and Brayden; her sister, Carol Millar and her husband Melvin; sister-in-law, Miriam Carpenter and her husband James and brother-in-law Elmer Hough and his wife Mayona; several nieces & nephews and Johns family. Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Melvin J. Hough; her son John D. Hough; and her sisters Eva Tillitson and Mary Clarke.
Bettys family would like to thank the Franklin County Home Health Agency for the excellent care they provided over the years, especially Jeanette Bosley who was a good friend to Betty.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Franklin United Church, 5374 Main St., Franklin with Rev. Jason McConnell officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 PM until the hour of the funeral.
