Montgomery Center - Betty Jean Johnson, 79, of Montgomery Center passed away on Wednesday morning, July 28, 2010 at St. Albans Health and Rehabilitation Center with her family at her side.
Betty was born on August 28, 1930 in Montgomery Center, the daughter of Reed and Mildred (Lumbra) Manosh. She was married to Sterling Willard Johnson. Sterling passed away on August 11, 1993.
In her earlier years, Betty worked at Jay Peak and ran the bar at the Wedel Inn. She was also a homemaker who especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Betty enjoyed skiing, walking and working outside. She was a member of the Montgomery Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her sons and their wives, Kent Johnson and his wife Julie Singleton of Essex and Kurt and Lisa Johnson of Enosburg; her grandchildren, Nathan Allen Johnson, Emily Margaret Johnson, Colin Francis Johnson and Mitchell Brandon Johnson; her brother Carl Manosh and his wife Nancy of FL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Sterling, Betty was predeceased by her sister Colleen Leavitt.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the Berkshire Center Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
