Richford - Bradley Douglas King, age 39, passed away on Monday evening, June 14, 2010 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, with his loving family at his side, following a lengthy and strong battle with brain cancer.
Brad was born on January 24, 1971 in St. Albans, the son of Douglas Butch and Suzanne (Shover) King. He was a 1989 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School.
Working as a mechanic, Brad had been employed by McDermotts Trucking, Vaillancourts Trucking, South Road Auto and Moore Lincoln/Mercury. In his younger years, Brad enjoyed riding 3 and 4 wheelers. He loved Ford trucks and was an avid Nascar race fan. He learned to completely disassemble and reassemble an engine, taught by his uncle Richie and had worked at Thunder Road Racing as a pit crew chief for Ron Lowell. His favorite Nascar driver was Matt Kenseth # 17. Brad had a photographic memory and enjoyed playing cards and checkers.
In addition to his parents of Berkshire, Brad is survived by his wife Pamela (Mercy) King of Richford, who was his best nurse and caregiver; his daughters Melinda and Christal King of Richford; his sister and her husband Jennifer and Dana Stetson and their children Isaiah, Taylor and Allison of Franklin; maternal grandfather, Robert Shover of Richford; mother-in-law Charlotte Mercy of Franklin; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron & Linda Lowell of Montgomery, Arnold & Linda Mercy of Montgomery, Carroll & Karrie Mercy of Georgia, Brent & Judith Willey of Troy, Gary & Susan Cutting of Richford, Thomas & Lorna Taft of Franklin, Daniel & Marie Guay of Newport, Michael & Denise Mercy of Montgomery, David Mercy and his friend Lisa of Montgomery and Harold & Darlene Morse of Eden; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brad was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Joyce Shover; paternal grandparents, Woodrow & Ida King; father-in-law, Gordon Mercy; grandparents-in-law, Harry & Wilma Domina and Carroll & Linnie Mercy; and a cousin Richard Dickie King, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the East Berkshire Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
