ST. ALBANS - Bruce J. Gervais, age 69, was called home to the Lord Wednesday evening, December 9, 2015 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on March 13, 1946 the son of the late Alphonse & Madeline (Brault) Gervais.
Bruce attended Holy Angels Parochial School for 8 years and graduated from BFA St. Albans in 1966. He worked at General Electric as a machinist and maintenance worker from 1970 to 2000 and then as a federal contractor for SCOT from 2001 to 2012.
Bruce was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish and was very good at it. He dressed and cooked all of his catch and was very generous with it. He enjoyed snowmobiling and making his own arrows. During a Boar hunt he was awarded a one arrow pin. Bruce was a member of the Swanton Shooting Range and was considered an expert marksmen with the gun and bow. His other interests included gardening, reloading & cooking.
He was a devoted husband and friend to his wife, Laura (Bouchard) Gervais of St. Albans. Bruce and Laura were married on August 13, 1977. Other family members include his brother, David Gervais his wife Janet of St. Albans his daughter Pamela Smith her fianc Brad Spaulding and her children, Lyric & Anson; brother, Paul Butch Gervais (Deceased) his children Travis Gervais wife Susan and his son Luke, and Melissa Lanoue (Deceased); his brother-in-law, Marcel Bouchard his wife Martina of Walthourville, GA and their children, Bianca Pinkerton her husband Jason and their children Natalie & Joshua and Henry Bouchard; his sisters-in-law, Lucille Regan her husband Jerry of New Athens, IL, Teresa Curry her husband Jody of Fairfield and their daughter Savanna, and Rita Salls her husband Victor of St. Albans and their children, Kerry Salls, Corey Salls his wife Becka and their children Marcel & Nathaniel, and Patrick Routhier his friend Tammy Lumen and their daughter Neavah; his aunt, Theresa Gervais of Port Richey, FL; his cousin, Beth Reverri her husband Stephen of Hudson, FL and their children, Stephen Reverri Jr. his wife Erin, Bruces Godson, Brian Reverri his wife Erin and their son Kaden, and Kevin Reverri and his wife Laura.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Church, 241 Lake Street, St. Albans with Rev. Maurice Roy celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment was held in St. Georges Cemetery, Academy St., Bakersfield on Tuesday the 15th at 1:00 PM.
Visiting hours were held Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
