SHELDON - Bruce E. King, Sr. - On October 30, 2010 our beloved father, and devoted husband Bruce E. King Sr. went on to be with our Lord. Bruce was born on May 5, 1942 to Hartland E. King, and Lorraine (Magoon) King who predeceased him. On June 10, 1961 he married Berta L. (Balentine) King who survives him. They were set to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in June, 2011. Bruce Sr. and Berta made their home in Sheldon where they had 5 wonderful children. He leaves behind his sons Bruce E. King Jr. and his friend Patty of Sheldon, VT, Jonathon L. King of Surf City, NC, Michael J. King of Sheldon, VT, Andrew A. King and his wife Miranda of Highgate, VT, and his only daughter Sara L. King of Sheldon, VT. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Ryan, Andrew, Steven, Nicholas, Kristina, Isaac, Josie, Emily, Jacob, and Stefan. He is also survived by an older brother Alan, and wife Eleanor of Westfield, NJ, and 2 sisters and their husbands, Pearle and her husband Arlyn, Beverly and her husband Larry all of Helena, MT. There are also many nieces and nephews whom he cared about very much.
Bruce devoted his life to his family, and his work. He was a great provider, father, husband, and friend to all who knew him. He was born to a farm/paper mill family, but soon realized his calling was repairing Automobiles, especially Volkswagens. He worked for several VW dealerships, before founding Bruce King Automotive in 1977. His legacy will live on for many years thru his family business that he loved so much. He enjoyed many hobbies including Auto racing, Bowling, hobby farming, and hunting. He had an incredible love of farm animals, raising many "pets" throughout the years. In recent years he enjoyed spending time at the Franklin county airport watching model airplane enthusiasts. He greatly enjoyed his antique and collectible cars and trucks, and especially his old Ferguson tractor. Bruce had many good friends and customers that he treated with kindness and respect. Known for his quick sense of humor, he was loved and respected by all. Bruce was a man of great integrity, and he made his faith the center of his life, serving the church whenever he could. His caring and kind ways will be greatly missed by all.
Visiting hours will be at Spears funeral home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls on Wed. Nov. 3, 2010 from 3-5, and 7-9 pm.
A Memorial service in his honor will be at 1pm on Thursday Nov. 4, 2010 at the East Franklin Union Church, Lake Road, East Franklin. Interment will follow at The Rice Hill Cemetery, next door to the house where Bruce was born in 1942.
A reception to reflect on his life will be held at The Franklin Homestead, Homestead Drive, Franklin for anyone that wishes to attend immediately after the Cemetery service.
