ENOSBURG FALLS - Bruno Pothier, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2012 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
He was born February 11, 1932 in Warwick, Que., Canada the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Beauchesne) Pothier.
Bruno immigrated in the USA in May 1955 with his wife Therese, eventually purchasing a small farm in Westfield. In 1968, they moved their family to Enosburg Falls. Bruno semi-retired from farming in 1985 and pursued a second career as a tour lead for a travel agency, where he had the chance to travel around the world. He had a tremendous amount of energy and enjoyed being around people. From his youth, he also had a great passion for logging spending countless time in the woods with his chain saw. In the spring he always looked forward to making maple syrup.
He is survived by his partner in life, Denise Lague of Enosburg Falls; his children, Real Pothier and his partner Gary Bergeron of Richmond, Benoit Pothier and his wife Rita of Enosburg Falls, Josee Pothier and her partner Debbi Fisher of Franklin, and Carole Volaric and her husband Vasko of Sterling, VA; his son-in-law, Marty Lumbra of Montgomery Center; his grandchildren, Journey, Joseph, Danielle, Samantha, Martin & Michael; and new great grandson, Carson. He is also survived by his new family, Denises daughter Johanne Schmidt, Daniel Lague and Lisa Greco and their children. In addition, he is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Therese Grenier of Victoriaville, Que., Conrad Pothier of Arthabaska, Que., Madeleine Grenier of Victoriaville, Que., Gisele & Jean-Yves Dubois of St. Hubert, Que., Marguerite & Fernand Lemarier of Victoriaville, Que., Raymond & Celine Pothier of St. David, Que., Gilles & Lizette Pothier of Victoriaville, Que.; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bruno was predeceased by his wife, Therese Pothier on May 5, 2010, their daughter Chantal on August 10, 2010 and his brother Andre on Feb 9, 2002.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 222 Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Roger Charbonneau celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Relatives and friends will gather at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls prior to the Mass on Friday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
