BAKERSFIELD - Carol Ann Greenwood, age 68, passed away on Sunday, October, 20, 2013 at her home in Bakersfield surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 1, 1945 in Franklin to the late Kenneth & Constance (Cabana) Emch.
Carol graduated from Franklin High School class of 1963. After high school she moved to Montpelier and began working for National Life. In 1967 Carol moved back to the area and worked at Energizer, formerly Union Carbide, where she spent more than 36 years. She retired from Energizer in 2010 and spent time helping at the Enosburgh Public Library.
She played softball in local leagues with her sisters for several years. Carol also enjoyed playing cribbage, bowling, gardening, reading, dancing, bingo, socializing at the monthly Ladies 500 Club and going on trips to casinos with friends. Carol also loved Sunday dinners with her family and planning family holidays and reunions. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Barry and her husband Tom and their children Austin & Randi all of Bakersfield; her son, Michael Abell and his wife Juli and their children Susan & Bobby Wyman all of Bakersfield; step-son, Mike Greenwood of Sheldon; 7 siblings, Ruth Quintin of Colchester, Arreta Boyd of Berlin, VT, Wendall Emch and his wife Bev of Enosburg Falls, Ralph Emch and his wife Cathy of Enosburg Falls, Shirley Paradee and her husband Brad of Fairfield, Jean Richard and her husband Bubby Richard of Franklin and Joan Myott and her husband Allen of Enosburg Falls; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Paul Quintin and Bruce Boyd and a step-son, Mark Greenwood.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4-7:00 PM.
