SHELDON - Carolyn Frances Bushey, age 72, wife of Raymond A. Bushey Sr. passed away at her home on Sunday, September 25, 2011 with her loving family at her side.
She was born September 3, 1939 in St. Albans Bay the daughter of the late Gordon Elwood Sr. & Marion (Chadwick) Elwood.
Carolyn was a longtime resident of Sheldon. She attended Sheldon Elementary School and was a 1957 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. She was a member of the Rice Hill United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 88 of Sheldon, the St. Albans Bowling League and the Sheldon Jack-a-lopes snowmobile club. She also enjoyed playing in several card clubs and the local softball league.
She enjoyed quilting, crafts, gardening, upholstery, and fishing. She was active in the re-construction of the Methodist Community Center in Highgate. She will also be remembered for her famous mock weddings and prank birthday cakes. Most of all she loved to attend her grandchildrens sporting events across the country.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Bushey Sr. of Sheldon. Carolyn & Raymond were married on October 10, 1959. She is also survived by her sons, Raymond A. Bushey Jr. and his wife Laurie of Hartland, Tim Bushey and his wife Sandy of Sheldon, and Ronald Bushey and his wife Charlene of North Grosvernordale, CT,; her grandchildren, Nicole McCrea and her husband Matthew of St. Albans, Trey Bushey and his wife Crystal of Raymond, NH, Cassandra Bushey of Hartland, Cameron & Colton Bushey of North Grosvenordale, CT; her sisters, Mary Parent of Enosburg Falls, Alyda Carpenter and her husband Carlton of East Enosburg, and Ilene Cooper of Richford; her brothers, Gordon Elwood Jr. and his wife Terri of Swanton, Floyd Elwood and his wife Betty of Sherman, TX,; a sister-in-law, Rose Elwood of Milton; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by a brother, Eldon Elwood.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon United Methodist Church, Church St., Sheldon. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
