RICHFORD - Carolyn Grace McAllister, age 62, wife of Robert McAllister, passed away Thursday morning February 7, 2008 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Richford on March 5, 1945 the daughter of Florence (McCarty) Stetson and the late Ralph Stetson.
Carolyn was a resident of Richford most of her life and a member of the Richford 1st Baptist Church and church choir. She also participated in the church senior meals program. Carolyn was the founding member of the Whispering Winds band for 5 years before attending community college to receive her substitute teachers certification. After receiving her certification she worked many years in the Richford and Enosburg Falls school systems.
Carolyn was very community minded and volunteered her time as music coordinator at the Franklin County Field Days and the Enosburg Falls Dairy Festival. She also loved to take part in the Richford Harvest Days where she would paint pumpkins that would be on display around the village. She also participated in the Richford Home Town Follies and more recently took an interest in attending Town Meeting.
She is survived by her husband Robert McAllister; 2 sons, David McAllister his wife Wilma and their son Andrew, and Daren McAllister all of Richford; mother, Florence Towle of Richford; brother, Lloyd Stetson and his wife Carolyn of Enosburg Falls; step sister, Judy Towle of St. Albans; sister-in-law, Joanne Stetson of Enosburg Falls; her mother-in-law, Martha McAllister of Richford; brother-in-law, Richard McAllister and his wife Diane of Richford; 2 sisters-in-law, Rachel Hall and her husband Greg, and Fannie Laden and her husband James all of Richford; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.. She was predeceased by her father, Ralph Stetson; brother, Gardner Stetson; and step-father, Raymond Towle.
Funeral services will be held Monday February 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Richford 1st Baptist Church with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating, assisted by Carolyns nephew, Pastor Tim Stetson. Interment will take place this spring in the Richford Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
