Casey Kivela

BAKERSFIELD - Casey A. Kivela, age 60, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

He was born in St. Albans on October 21, 1962 to the late Sandra (Smart) Kivela. Casey was one of five children that were raised by his mother and his grandparents, Alfred & Irene Smart.

Throughout Casey's life he always made an effort to help those in need. He owned and operated Casey's Automotive Repair for many years and he considered himself an Auto Technician - not a mechanic! He would regularly repair cars for people who couldn't afford to pay. He also owned and operated a construction business called 2nd Chance Restoration for a few years. His mission was to provide a 2nd chance for people who couldn't find work due to their past and offer them employment. Casey would be considered a "tinkerer" in every sense of the word. When he wasn't working you could probably find him 4-wheeling, mud bogging in his truck, or fishing on a river bank with his children or grandchildren. For the past 4 years Casey has worked as a Cannabis Connoisseur for his nephews Craig & Kyle Bouvier in Maine.

He leaves behind his children, Kasia Bergeron of Burlington, Jennifer Hayes of Milton, Shawn Kivela of Bakersfield, Cassandra Maynard of Bakersfield, Kallen Kivela of Richford, and Kye Giroux and her husband Cody of Sheldon; 11 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Paige, Kaci, Jordan, Serenity, Remington, Brandon, Gavin, Alivia, Kendra, and Jarett; 2 great-grandchildren, Keirnan, and Nahlah; his siblings, Scott Kivela and his wife Angie, Kip Scanlon, and Kristi Kivela and her fiancé Brian West; his aunt & uncle, Paul & Candy Bilodeau; and several nieces & nephews. Casey was predeceased by his wife, Penny Remillard Kivela; his mother, Sandra; and his grandparents, Alfred & Irene Smart.

Friends & family are invited to Casey's life celebration on Monday, February 13, 2023 to include visitation from 1-2:00 PM with a memorial service at 2:00 PM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
