RICHFORD - Celina Antoinette Chalifoux, age 93, passed away Saturday March 21, 2009 at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 6, 1915 in Frelighsburgh, Que. Canada the daughter of the late Andre & Rosa (Rocheleau) Couture.
Celina was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and took pride in being a homemaker and raising her family. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in East Berkshire and the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing cards, and cooking especially for family gatherings.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Jean-Claude John & Susan Chalifoux of Richford, Robert & Carol Chalifoux of Hinesburg, Real & Darlene Chalifoux of Richford, and Richard Chalifoux of Enosburg; her daughters, Claire Fay and her companion Charlie Hotchkin of Richford, and Cecile Fuller and her husband Leonard of Corinth, ME; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Antoinette Desgroseilliers of Iberville, Quebec, and Noella St. Pierre of Cowansvile, Quebec; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Andre J. Chalifoux; a grandson, Paul Chalifoux; and a brother, Roger Couture.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Andre Cemetery in Sutton, Quebec.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford.
