ST. ALBANS - Charles Leaycraft Donohugh, age 80, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the St. Albans Health & Rehab Center.
He was born on July 18, 1944 in Washington D.C. to the late Crawford & Pauline (Rubsam) Donohugh.
Charles was a proud United States Army veteran and a retiree of the National Guard, embodying a spirit of dedication and commitment to his country that lasted a lifetime. His professional journey included several meaningful roles, from his time at IBM to driving a bus and later working as a contractor for USCIS. Each step reflected his strong work ethic and willingness to serve others, traits that endeared him to friends and colleagues alike.
Charles cherished the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for driving around Vermont - putting on thousands of miles each year, going fishing, and "lawn saling". He also enjoyed going on adventures and out to eat with his beloved companion, Meggie.
He is survived by his close family friends, Connie & Bob Nolan; and Meggie's grandchildren, Jennifer Blaney-Guilmette and her husband Jake, Robert "RJ" Nolan and his wife Emily, and Chantel Nolan and her fiancé, Josh Sundby; great grandchildren, Skyler, Zach, Cassidy, Camden, Lenyx, Leo, and Colter; and great great grandchildren, Holden, Wrenley, and Lucy. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his grandmother who raised him, Dorothy Rubsam; his wife, Sandra Donohugh; and his companion and dear friend, Amelia Nolan.
Friends & family are invited to Charles' life celebration to include a graveside memorial service with military honors on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Jerusalem Cemetery, Lakeview Drive, North Hero, VT.
