Charles Lumbra

October 5, 1924 — February 10, 2025

ENOSBURGH FALLS - Charles Eugene Lumbra born October 5th, 1924 in Berkshire, Vt to the late John and Anna Domina Lumbra, passed peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, February 10th, 2025.

Charles was raised on a farm, working alongside his father and brother. Charles had many fond stories of his team of Morgan horses and how well they were trained. At 17 years old he met his wife of 77 years, Phyliss Patch. The two married in 1946, having Dale their son in 1959. Charles always worked hard first on the farm, then as a car salesman in Enosburg, then to Sweat and Cummings until his retirement. Charles also bartended at the Dairy Center, which gave him the opportunity to share his sharp wit and loveable personality. Helping at the many functions they attended you could find Charles helping in the kitchen, before, during and after. Charles and Phyliss enjoyed bus trips with friends, riding thru town looking at Christmas lights, playing cards with friends. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandsons always put a big smile on his face, making sure everybody was happy!

Charles is survived by his son Dale and his wife Christine. Three granddaughters, Nicole Lumbra and partner, Chris Brown, Brittney Zahn, and Jasmine Stratton, great grandsons, Charlie and Wyatt Zahn. Sister Joyce Real and her children Lisa Oddy and Steven Real. As well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank everyone who loved, cherished and helped Charles and Phyliss.

With special thanks to, Lise Gates, Alice and Larry Machia, Marie Reagan, Sandy Murphy, Sonja Peck, Nancy and Guy Breault, and neighbors Joan and Rene Murray and family.

A graveside service will be held this spring.

For those who wish, contributions in Charles' memory may be made to the University of Vermont Cancer Center, 111 Colchester Avenue, Main Campus, Main Pavilion, Level 2, Burlington, VT 05401.
