FRANKLIN - Conant Chamberlain, age 87, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction.
He was born in Richford on October 27, 1927 to the late Clarence & Glenna (Casavant) Chamberlain.
Conant served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII. He spent most of his life in Franklin where he worked for over 40 years as an auto body mechanic for Benjamins Garage. He also spent time as a school bus driver for Franklin until he retired. Conant was a member and chief of the Franklin Fire Department, a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and a member of the Grange and the Swanton V.F.W. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Gaylord Chamberlain and his wife Sheryl of Burlington; grandchildren, Celeste Langlais and her husband Michael Sr. and Nicholas Chamberlain all of Burlington; 2 great grandchildren, Mikayla and Michael Langlais Jr.; his special friend and caregiver, Dee Ann Corey and his nephew, Dan Corey. Besides his parents, Conant was predeceased by his wife, Esther (Herron) Chamberlain; his daughter, Mary Ann Chamberlain and a special friend, Eleanor Corey.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
