East Fairfield - David E. Freak Chaplin. Age 51, passed away as a result of being stubborn, always refusing to follow doctors orders, and raising hell for nearly 5 decades on Saturday, July 30, 2016.
Dave was born on May 18, 1965 in Meridan, CT to the late David Henry Chaplin & Carol- Ann Elizabeth (Hart) Savage.
He is survived by his beloved children, David Edward Williams and his fianc Cassi Larock of Highgate, Desiree Elizabeth Baker and her husband Kyle Baker of Highgate Ctr., Elizabeth Mae Cookingham and her significant other Bradley Stanley of Fairfax, Kyle Martell of St. Albans, and Chantel Eve Chaplin and her fianc Bryce Sartin of Essex; his significant other, Amanda Downing of East Fairfield; step-children, Jocelyn Downing, and Bree and Brad Conger; his grandchildren, Avery Rose Sartin, Adam, Emma & Alexis Williams, Haylee Bushey, Kyiah & Sadie Baker, and Sheldon Downing; his siblings, Roberta Baker and her husband William Jr. of Montgomery, Cindy Legault & Wade of Milton, John Chaplin & Lynn and Richard Chaplin all of East Fairfield and Tanya Johnson and her husband Brian of West Swanton; his former wife, Kathy Chaplin of St. Albans and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his step-mother Kathleen Schnaubelt, his niece Jessica Chaplin, and his step-son Derek Lewis.
David was a free spirited adventurer, and an avid collector of trinkets, he enjoyed working on cars and fixing junk , he loved playing cribbage with his uncle Archie and stealing everyones money at cards, he enjoyed going trail riding, and spending as much time, with friends, family, and especially his grandchildren, as possible. David also truly admired his work family of 16 years at Frank W. Whitcombs where he specialized as a diesel mechanic and was very well known as Freak . He was a kind hearted, selfless man who would go above and beyond to help anyone in need.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 5-8 pm at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Georges cemetery, Avenue Rd., Bakersfield.
