David Earl Reed

Sheldon - David Earl Reed, 69, a resident of Central Street in Sheldon passed away on Tuesday afternoon, December 2, 2008 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington surrounded by his family.

David was born on September 4, 1939 in Sheldon the son of Earl and Julia (Tatro) Reed.
He had resided all of his life in the home where he was born.

David was a lifelong farmer and sugar maker. He was an honorary member of the Vermont Beagle Club and had produced an international champion beagle. He had also served as a judge for many international beagle trials. Davids favorite pastimes were running his dogs, deer hunting, fishing, sugaring and being on the farm. Most of all, he loved his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life and brought him so much joy, love and laughter. These countless memories will always be with his family and never be forgotten.

David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Hazel (Talcott) Reed of Sheldon; his children Rosemary (Reed) Boucher and her husband Marc of St. Albans, David Reed, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Sheldon, Janet (Reed) Montgomery and her husband John of Fairfield, Russell Reed and his wife Susie of Sheldon and Amy (Reed) Beauregard and her husband Eric of Franklin; 12 grandchildren that adore him, Ashley Boucher, Alex Boucher and his wife Jessica, Kyle and Brandon Reed, Sarah, Sherry, Eric and Whitney Montgomery, Kristin and Melissa Reed and Celina and Jacob Beauregard. David also leaves 2 brothers Roger Reed and his wife Lou Ann of Sheldon and Pete Reed and his wife Doris of Georgia; 2 sisters Sally (Reed) Blair of Wallingford, CT and Joyce (Reed) Corey and her husband Lyndon of Fairfield. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a daughter Rita Reed in 1981.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Sheldon with the Rev. Dr. Marguerite Gage, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Village Cemetery. There are no public calling hours planned.
