FRANKLIN - David Olmstead, age 52, passed away Monday February 4, 2008 at the Burlington Health & Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.
David was born July 1\t2, 1955 in St. Albans the son of Martha Jane (Riley) Olmstead and the late Howard R. Olmstead.
David was a resident of Franklin most of his life and was a member and trustee of the East Franklin Union Church. As a young boy he was a member of the Boy Scouts and attended Missisquoi High School. He was employed with Don-Vac Construction Co. in Burlington for several years until his poor health required him to retire in 2004. David was very active with the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department having served for 37 years. He was also a volunteer with the Franklin Rescue Squad for several years. David enjoyed hunting and NASCAR racing.
He is survived by his mother Martha Jane Olmstead of Franklin; 2 brothers, Harmon Olmstead of Troy, NY, and Matthew Olmstead of Franklin; good friend, Wayne King of Pfafftown, NC; and his many friends at Burlington Health & Rehab. He was predeceased by his father, Howard Olmstead on March 17, 1995.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning February 8, 2008 at 11:00 at the East Franklin Union Church with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Interment will be next spring in the East Franklin Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
