David Clair Ryea

RICHFORD - David Clair Ryea, 75, a resident of North Branch Road passed away Saturday morning, September 8, 2007 at his home in Richford with his family at his side.

David was born on December 29, 1931 in Dunkin, Quebec, Canada the son of the late Raymond C. and Doreen (Ducolon) Ryea. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In his earlier years, David farmed in Richford and had also been employed for 37 ½ years at Blue Seal Feeds. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Richford.
David had many and varied interests. He was a wonderful gardener and took great pride in his produce which he often gave away. He was also proud of his woodworking and his home which he built. A great lover of music, David enjoyed singing and listening to Daniel ODonnell and Ernie Tubb. David enjoyed sugaring and making maple cream as well as spending time with his beloved dogs. David could make a friend of a total stranger and looked forward to spending time with his coffee friends in Richford.

Surviving are Davids wife, Reba (Pollender) Ryea of Richford; 2 daughters Donna Rainville and her husband Claude of Tucson, AZ and Dorothy Girard of Rutland; his son Dwight Ryea of Seattle, WA; 3 brothers Raymond Ryea of East Hartford, CT, Hollis Ryea and his wife Sally of Westminster, VT and Richard Ryea and his wife Prudy of Richford; 2 sisters Marylou Pierce and her husband Robert of Bristol and Christine Paradee of Fairfield; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews including Eugene and Elizabeth James and cousins. David also leaves numerous special friends including Arnold and Ruth Ruch, Mr.& Mrs. Noel Blouin, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Pynduss, Doug & Jane Kidder and 2 special girls, Jenna and Tracy Combs, whom David and Reba cared for. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by 2 sons, David and Dennis Ryea; 2 sisters Eleanor Ryea and Rachel Lossmann and 2 brothers Reginald and Fred Ryea.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Richford United Methodist Church. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the family lot at Hillside Cemetery, Richford . Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home 140 Main St., Richford on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
