RICHFORD - Donald C. Roberts, age 92, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 with his family by his side at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born December 22, 1922 in South Richford to the late Hormidos & Adeline (Paquette) Roberts. Donald was the youngest of 15 children.
Donald attended Richford High School and after graduation he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. When discharged from the Navy he came home and married the love of his life, Norma Mae Butler on June 22, 1946. Donald owned and operated his business, Roberts Shoe Repair, out of their home on Main Street in Richford; where he lived until 2006. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years as a city letter carrier in Richford, he retired in 1981. After Norma passed away on June 5, 2005 he moved closer to his daughter in Berkshire.
He is survived by his daughter, Stacy (Roberts) Gregoire and her husband Paul of Berkshire; his grandson, Philip Gregoire and his family, Samantha, Zoe & Kayla of Berkshire; a brother-in-law, Harry Butler of Cowansville, Que.; several nieces & nephews and his lifelong friends, Peter & Maxine Farrar and Richard & Diane McAllister, Donald enjoyed many years of attending car shows with Pete & Richard. Besides his parents and wife, Donald was predeceased by his 14 siblings and in-laws, Harry & Mabel Butler.
There will be no services for Donald at this time. A graveside memorial service will be held at the familys convenience this spring in All Saints Cemetery in Richford.
