HIGHGATE / RICHFORD - Doris A. Sartwell, age 79, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Our Lady of the Meadows Community Care Home in Richford.
She was born July 3, 1935 in Jay, VT to the late Walter & Mable (Corey) Bosley.
Doris was born and raised in Vermont and was very proud of her Native American roots. She worked mostly as a seamstress for Cross Borders Sewing Factory but also spent time as an apple picker. Family was the most important thing to her, she loved get-togethers and spoiling her grandchildren. Her hobbies included bird watching, going to lawn sales, camping, going for rides, dancing and going to fairs. She was also a huge fan of NASCAR and her favorite driver was Jeff Gordon.
She is survived by her children, Charles Sartwell Sr. and his wife Kim of Highgate, Donnie Sartwell and his wife Joanna of Georgia and Penny Barney and her husband Joseph of Highgate; her partner, Sonny Taylor of Richford; her grandchildren, Jennifer Sartwell of Fairfield, Derick Sartwell and his fianc Jenna Johnson of Richford, Joseph B. Barney and his wife Sabrina of Swanton and Jaydon & Maelyn Sartwell of Georgia; great grandchildren, Zachary, Sierra, Brian, Dylan, Jordan, Cheyenne and Robert Sartwell, Joseph C. Barney and another on the way; her special niece, Loretta Byers of Richford, half-sisters and brother, Reba, Gloria, Christine and Keith all of West Virginia and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Charles Sartwell; her grandson, Charles Sartwell Jr.; an infant great grandchild, Baby Sartwell and her siblings, Viola Jenne and Lawrence Bosley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Interment will be held this spring in the Highgate Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
