SHELDON - Dorothy E. Ovitt, age 87, passed away, Thursday evening December 24, 2015 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans surrounded by her family.
She was born June 8, 1928 in Franklin the daughter of the late Thomas & Della (Wright) Tatro.
Dorothy was a resident of Sheldon most of her life and worked out of her home as a seamstress for many years. She was involved in many activities including 8/40 meetings, and the American Legion Auxiliary Sheldon Post #88. She also looked forward to her outings with the Birthday Girls . She enjoyed visiting her friends that were camping and always arrived with the marshmallows to roast, shopping (Dollar Store & Christmas Tree Shops), going out to eat, spending time with her wonderful neighbors and most importantly she loved to visit with her family who affectionately called her Grandma Dort. In her younger years she enjoyed deep sea fishing in Maine.
She is survived by her husband Richard Ovitt of Sheldon. Dorothy & Richard were married on February 6, 1971. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Brian & Cathy Danyow of Sheldon, Steven & Judy Danyow of Franklin and Karen & Richard Sweet of Sheldon; her grandchildren, Shirley Lunna her husband Deric of Sheldon and their children, Isaac, Isaiah, Callia, Bonni & Quentin, Sara Rutanhira her boyfriend Nick of Sheldon and their children, Nyasha, Storm & Echo, Jed Danyow his fianc Amanda King of Rutland and their children, Adelynn & Cadence, Amanda Hart her boyfriend Jason Kennison of Franklin and their children, Theresa, Erika & Charles, Jessie Danyow his wife Arielle of Sheldon and their children, Devyen & Brittany, Luke Danyow his wife Jennifer of Sheldon and their children, Brian, Donovan & Timothy, Otis Danyow and his daughter Breanna of Sheldon, John Danyow of Franklin and Renee Danyow of Franklin; her brother, John Tatro of Sheldon; her brother-in-law, Wesley Ovitt and his wife Maxine of Sheldon; and her sister-in-law, Shirley King and her partner Mary Frye of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful pets, Dog, Midget and Cat, Patches. Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Hendrick.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 7-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls
