SOUTH BURLINGTON - Earl Bud Porter Flanders, age 85, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
Bud was born February 16, 1929, in Rutland, the son of the late Earl & Ruth (Porter) Flanders.
Bud was a resident of South Burlington for the past 56 years. He was employed at General Electric for 40 years retiring in 1989. He was a life member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington and was a former Boy Scout leader. Bud enjoyed bicycling, fishing and gardening. He will fondly be remembered by his girls for biking, fishing, taking long walks in the woods, sledding, and treats of creemees at Al\u0027s.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pauline (Maynard) Flanders of South Burlington; his daughters, Ruth Ann Custeau and her husband Chuck of Milton, Mary Thompson and her husband Dale of Essex Jct., Amy Turner and her husband Ken of Plattsburgh, NY, and Dolores Flanders of Burlington; his grandchildren, Elizabeth & Heather Custeau, Avery & Cedric Thompson, and Ian & Abigail Turner; his sisters, Helen Spears of Enosburg Falls and Joyce Bruner of Essex Jct.; among many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 160 Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, with Rev. Patrick Forman celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington.
A time of visitation will be held at St. John Vianney Parish Hall on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the funeral Mass.
