ALBURGH - Edward W. Christopher, age 84, passed away on Saturday, Augst 17, 2024 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 28, 1940 to the late Herman "Bill" & Edith "Anne" (Sharpeger) Christopher.
Ed planted his roots in Vermont at a tender age of 6 and never looked back. He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga from 1958-1962. After his military service, he married Nancy (Bohannon) Christopher and they embarked on a journey of true companionship. Ed had an illustrious career in nuclear medicine before transitioning to advertising in 1989.
An active member of his community, Ed selflessly dedicated his time to various causes. From his involvement with the Vermont State Police auxiliary snowmobile and lake division to his contributions to the Alburgh American Legion Post #60, Ed's impact was far-reaching. He was a founding member of the Alburgh Sno Springers and a cherished part of the Business to Business group, he fondly referred to them as his B2B family.
In his free time, Ed loved nothing more than spending quality moments at his hunting camp in Montgomery with his dear friends Red and Ivan. Cruising on Lake Champlain on his beloved "party barge" brought him immense joy, as did embarking on adventurous road trips to and from Texas with his best friend, John Held.
He is survived by his children, Lori Barnard of Swanton, and Neil Christopher of Alburgh; grandchildren, Austin Christopher, and Landon Christopher; and countless friends. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Christopher; and his son, Eric Christopher.
Friends & family are invited to Ed's life celebration to include a graveside funeral service at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Greenwoods Cemetery, Greenwoods Road, Alburgh Spring, VT. A reception will follow at the Bohannon farmhouse.
For those who wish, contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to the Alburgh Public Library, 16 South Main Street, Alburgh, VT 05440.
