Edward Eaton

April 10, 1919 — July 11, 2012

FRANKLIN - Edward O. Eaton, age 93, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans.

He was born in Middlesex on April 10, 1919 the son of the late Fred & Emily (Johnson) Eaton.

Ed graduated from Waitsfield High School in 1937. He then went on to the University of Vermont and graduated in 1941 with a Bachelors degree in agriculture. On May 15, 1942 Ed married Lois Hodgkins. He then served his country in the United States Air Force from 1942-1946. After his military discharge, Ed continued furthering his education receiving his Masters degree in 1950 and his Doctorate in 1952 from Cornell University Ithaca, NY both in agricultural engineering. He worked as a professor emeritus for Cornell University and was a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Masonic Lodge in Waitsfield.

He is survived by his children, Edward H. Eaton and his wife Marie of Williamstown, VT and Paul Eaton and his wife Barbara of South Amherst, OH; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 nieces, 1 nephew and their families. Besides his parents, Ed was predeceased by his wife, Lois (Hodgkins) Eaton on September 20, 2003; and his sister, and her husband, Evelyn Donald Getz.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home. 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT. Interment will be private at the Village Cemetery in Waitsfield, VT.
