Eleanor Mae Heald

RICHFORD - Eleanor Mae Heald, age 96, passed away Thursday October 20, 2011 at the Vermont Respite House with her loving family at her side.
She was born October 3, 1915 in Richford the daughter of the late Ovide & Hattie (Touchette) Barber.
Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Richford and was employed at Atlas Plywood and Northland Hockey Stick Factory. She also was currently working at the Spears Funeral Home in Richford as the housekeeper, a position she began in 1966. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 12 of Richford.
Eleanor took her first vacation at the age of 70 when she flew to Florida to visit her son and went to Disney World. She loved making her Yo Yo Quilts and having afternoon coffee with friends and family. She also enjoyed going for rides and dancing.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy & H. Robbe Pierce of South Burlington, Ovide Mickey & Kala Heald of Jacksonville, FL, and Carolyn & Alfred Gendron of Richford; her grandchildren, (Nancys) Kibby, Chistopher & Georgia, (Kays) Haley & Matthew, (Mickeys) Terry & Todd, and (Carolyns) Shelley & Shelbie; 11 great grandchildren Olivia, Morgan, Michael, Jakob, Amanda, Campbell, Camilla, Corrine, Kennedy, Dylan & Dawson; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and neighbor, Madeleine Lariviere. Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Alan Heald; they were married September 17, 1938. She was also predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Kay & William Rogers; her siblings, Felix, Carlton, Nelson, Arthur, Lucy, Lydia, Ellarena, Freddy, Cecile & Cora.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford with Pastor Patrick Hoadley. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery. Following the committal friends and relatives are invited to gather for a reception at the Spears Funeral Home in Richford.
