BERKSHIRE - Elfriede Jaensch of Berkshire Center, VT, age 85, died peacefully on March 16, 2020.
Elfriede is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hans Jaensch, daughter Kathy Jaensch and son-in-law David Woolsey, of Maine, son-in-law Michael Axelrod of New York, daughter-in-law Kelly Jaensch of New York, grandchildren Tyla Axelrod, Kaitlyn Jaensch and Henry Jaensch, and relatives in Germany. She is predeceased by her son, Hermann Jaensch and daughter, Diana Jaensch.
Elfriede grew up in Hamburg, Germany and moved to the United States in 1955, to marry Hans Jaensch. She worked for 25 years in the Yorktown Central School District food service program. Her passions were cooking, gardening and taking care of her family. Elfriede will be remembered for a life full of moments shaped by her strong mindedness, her constancy, and her simple joy in things of nature.
The family would like to thank all those people that cared for Elfriede over the last years of her life, and all those that provided invaluable support and friendship.
A private funeral service will be held Friday March 27, 2020 at 6:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT with Rev. Dr. Arnold Thomas officiating. Private visitation will be held on Friday at Spears Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until the hour of her service.
A public memorial service will be held, at a future date, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Jericho, VT.
