BERKSHIRE – Erwin Morits, age 56, passed away on April 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Berkshire.
He was born in Burlington on September 21, 1965 to the late Joseph and Joan (Vincelette) Morits.
Erwin was a wheeler and dealer, and “could turn a penny into a dollar.” He was also one hell of a bullshitter. One of his favorite quotes was, “You can’t bullshit a bullshitter!” He loved to gamble, especially at the Akwesasne Casino. He and his son, Aaron recently made a point to take regular trips for a day of gambling together. Erwin also loved testing his luck on scratch tickets, and the second chance options too. He loved anything with an engine, especially motorcycles, boats, 4-wheelers, and snowmobiles, and he loved adding to his gun collection. More than gambling and bullshitting, Erwin loved his family, especially hanging out with his grandson, Brady, who was his pride and joy and affectionately known as “Paw Paw” who looked forward to their weekly visits. He also loved to take nature walks with his beloved dogs, Keisha, Miley, and Bailey. Erwin was an avid Red Sox fan, and passionate about baseball, he loved playing with his kids and their friends or anyone who was willing to pick up a ball, glove, and a bat. He might’ve been a closet Yankees fan, but only so his daughter, who he referred to as his “Baby Girl” wasn’t the only New York fan in the family. Angel will miss him calling her his Baby Girl. Erwin loved to fish, hunt and snack on anything sweet! Tracy is going to miss cooking meals and sweets for him when he said “Honey, I’m hungry!” One of the biggest accomplishments that Erwin was proud of, was his boxing days. He was awarded Champion of the New England Golden Gloves in 1992. Erwin will be missed by family and friends and life will never be the same without his wit, humor, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his children, Aaron Morits of Bakersfield, Angel Morits and her significant other Courtney Bohannon of St. Albans, and Abby Morits of Michigan; stepson, Dustin Lavallee; his beloved grandsons, Brady Morits and Jayden Thompson; two brothers, Wilfred “Sonny” Morits and Paul Morits and his wife Debbie; his significant other of many years, Tracy Wells; step children, Christine, Carrie, and Timmy LaCross and Carter Wells; sisters-in-law, Susan and Maureen Morits; special friends, Todd LaPan and his wife Tammy, Scott Lavallee, and Brian Gazaille; the mother of his children, Carey Branch; and several nieces and nephews. Erwin is survived by a huge family. Besides his parents, Erwin was predeceased by his sisters, Cynthia Hance, Susan Lefebvre, Linda Burnell, Alberta Gadue and Joan Gardner; brothers, Joe Morits, John Morits, Lloyd Morits, George Morits, and Arthur Morits Sr.
